Description:

Under which conditions does work stimulate human flourishing and when does it harm well-being and health? How can you design and evaluate organizational interventions? What determines the effectiveness of a team? How do you stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship? And what are effective human resources practices?

The International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology goes one step further and prepares you for a research career within or outside the walls of academia.

Are you interested in both creation and valorisation of research outputs? Do you want to have a truly international study experience that takes you to three universities: Maastricht University (Netherlands), Leuphana Universität Lüneburg (Germany), and Universitat de València (Spain)? Then read more about the International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology.

Why this programme?

The international labour market is changing rapidly, and with it work and organisational practices. By understanding these changes, organisations can adapt to new developments. This is where work and organisational psychologists come in.

To assist organisations in their sensemaking and interventions, psychologists need to possess basic and applied research competences. The International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology addresses a wide range of topics from organisational behaviour, to entrepreneurship practices, to advanced research methods, and it familiarises you with types of research that are relevant in academic and professional settings (like evaluation research, translational research, and intervention research).

Each form of research has its own set of methods and forces researchers to identify and engage with the context in which they operate. Researchers who seek a positive impact of their outputs need to show competences such as:

  • translating laboratory findings to large organisations
  • designing evidence-based interventions
  • valorisation and commercialisation of research outputs
  • communicating results to society
  • interfacing with entrepreneurs

Scientist-Innovator:

The International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology trains psychologists according to a ‘scientist-innovator’ model. You’ll not only produce research targeted towards the scientific community. Rather, in our programme we define research broadly to include:

  • basic research,
  • applied research,
  • R&D,
  • innovation and translational research,
  • evaluation research,
  • and non-standard consultancy.

The programme gives you an up-to-date overview of Work and Organizational Psychology paired with high quality research training focused on basic and applied research. During the two years, you’ll develop indispensable competences for researchers who wish to create organisational and societal impact, like valorisation competence and cultural agility.

If you are self-starting, proactive, and able to overcome barriers you will find this programme a good fit. The active learning approach links up with these entrepreneurial attributes.

Three universities:

The International Joint Master of Research in Work and Organizational Psychology allows you to earn a joint degree from three renowned universities:

  • Maastricht University (Netherlands)
  • Leuphana Universität Lüneburg (Germany)
  • Universitat de València (Spain)

By studying in three countries, you’ll develop intercultural competences and gain a heightened sensitivity for the importance of international contexts in doing research.
