Would you like to specialise in organismal stress adaptation? Or in ecosystem dynamics, so that you can contribute to species protection and nature recovery? You could also dive into environmental modelling or walk the line between biological and medical (micro)biology. At Radboud University, you can choose from eight specialisations to define your field of interest within Biology.
Possible specialisations:
-
Microbiology: Focus on the functioning of microorganisms and their potential for improving our health and the environment. Think of applications in energy-efficient societal waste processing or next generation vaccines.
-
Adaptive Organisms: A challenging research-orientated programme that covers the fundamental processes involved in stress responses of plants, micro-organisms and animals.
-
Conservation and Restoration Ecology: Unravel ecosystem dynamics in order to contribute to species protection and nature recovery. You will get insight in the relations between different communities within an ecosystem, and how they react to environmental stress.
-
Water and Environment: Water and Environment dives into ecological issues on all scales and connects scientific findings to societal implications or environmental policies.
-
Transnational Ecosytem-based Water Management: An international programme for future water managers, combining ecology, hydrology and socio-economics. This is a double degree programme of Radboud University and the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.
-
Science in Society: Science and technology have a profound influence on society, but the reverse is also true: society significantly shapes the ways in which science and technology evolve. This specialisation equips you with the tools to become a professional intermediary between science and society.
-
Science, Management and Innovation: All organisations struggle with challenges such as sustainability, health, energy, and IT security. Solutions require scientists with an analytical as well as a societal understanding of these issues.
-
Science and Education (in Dutch): Do you have a passion for Biology and an interest in didactics? Do you like presenting and sharing knowledge? Want to work on your personal leadership skills? Science and Education offers scientific ánd didactic education, enabling you to teach in secondary school right after graduation.
