Big data – the amount of data available to companies today is growing rapidly. In this Master’s programme, you’ll learn the whole data science process, from data collection to data storytelling.
The programme comprises in-depth knowledge and understanding of the complete data science process. You will learn how to apply analytical or machine learning/deep learning techniques to solve complex data problems. The data storytelling and communication part of this programme will enable to leverage the data to reveal valuable insights to the stakeholders for decision making.
This programme is designed in a way that it becomes more extensive and complex from semester to semester. In the first semester, you’ll gain a solid grounding in theory and practice. The second and third semesters are self-contained units. All modules combine theory and practice: The theoretical and practical knowledge gained is applied and enhanced in different case studies that become increasingly complex as your study progress.
Interdisciplinarity
Apart from technical and statistical tools such as big data architectures, data mining and predictive analytics, the curriculum also focuses primarily on creative questioning techniques, visualisation, storytelling, ethics, and international law.
Business proximity
The aim of the degree programme in Big Data and Business Analytics is to ask the right big data questions arising from the specific company context, to identify and analyse the relevant data, and finally to relay the analysis results back to the company in a target-oriented fashion.
